ABOUT US
“Have fun, because that’s what life is all about.” ~ Ryan Lochte
Wodonga Amateur Swimming Club (WASC) is a volunteer swim club that was formed in 1959. We are part of the Ovens & Murray District Swimming Association and are affiliated with Swimming Victoria. We compete at District, Country, State and National levels.
The club believes that every swimmer in our club should be able to reach their performance swimming potential. To achieve this, we focus on instruction based, best-practice principles.
WASC is a club that encourages swimming for fitness, fun and friendship. We are confident that you, or your child, will have an enjoyable swimming experience with us.

IS WASC FOR YOU?
I think that everything is possible as long as you put your mind to it
and put the work and time into it. ~ Michael Phelps
WASC welcomes swimmers of all ages and abilities. We encourage both competitive and non-competitive swimmers to participate in training with a focus on the development of technique and strength. Not sure which level you are at? Come to training and our coaches will find the right group for you. We welcome swimmers from 8 years old who can swim 25m in a recognisable stroke. If you’re keen to have a fun and enjoyable experience in and out of the pool, then we recommend that WASC is for you!
ROLE OF PARENTS
Our club relies on the involvement and assistance of parents and guardians to give our swimmers the best opportunity to succeed. Every parent/guardian has something to offer and the more parental involvement the easier it is to run this club for our children.

Training
We want your child to have the best possible experience in the pool, so it is important that when you bring your child to training that you let our qualified and knowledgeable coaches lead the training session without interruptions. We encourage all parents to stay at training sessions to watch their child train and connect with other parents.

Pennants
WASC hosts one pennant each season and needs parents for set-up prior to the event, catering for officials, marshalling, starting, announcing, timekeeping and other tasks as required. We ask that you provide your assistance where possible. At other pennants, we are required to provide timekeepers for the entire day.

School Carnival Set-up
Each year, WASC is paid by the schools holding their swimming carnivals at Waves Swim Centre for the use of the carnival equipment – blocks, timekeeper and marshal area shade and seating. The committee will provide information closer to this time on how you can help. All the revenue raised from these activities benefits our swimmers.
